Norwegians will get it first in the Autumn.

Aspiro Music has announced plans to launch a new streaming service in the Autumn - but it's got nothing to do with music.

The company has partnered with Norwegian book publisher Cappelen Damm to stream audiobooks to users on PC, Mac and mobile devices.

The service will work across these platforms too, allowing people to start listening to an audiobook on their computer, then continue at the point they stopped on their phone.

"This represents a strong modernization of audiobooks, which we believe will appeal to both old and new users," says Cappelen Damm director Øisten Wahl.

Aspiro says it's looking for more partnerships to use its bookstreaming tech.

"We will also offer our streaming service throughout Europe to publishers, audiobook clubs and other retailers, who want to distribute their books via online streaming," says Aspiro CEO Gunnar Sellæg.
