Asia Pac to increase share

The Asia Pac region, driven by growth in India and China, will increase its share of the global mobile content market from 49 per cent to 51 per cent between 2006 and 2001, says Informa.

Asia is the cradle of mobile entertainment - the market began in Japan in 1999. But in recent years, the West has caught up. Now, rapid subscriber growth in India and China is set to re-establish the region's dominance.

Overall Informa estimates the global content market to be worth $13.6 biliion in 2006, with the total rising to $31.7 billion by 2010. Its new report projects that music will remain at the forefront of the industry, accounting for $13.6 billion in revenues by 2010. TV/video will gross $8.4 billion by the end of the decade, with games at $7.2 billion and adult at $2.5 billion.

The research was revealed at the MEM Asia show in Singapore, where over 380 delegates from all over the world gathered to meet and discuss market developments in the East.
