Archos opts for Opera

New line of connected portable media players will have full web browsing capabilities.

Archos is to use Opera's browser software in its latest range of Internet Media Tablets - the 5, 5g and 7.

All models are wi-fi-enabled, but the 5g (which launches in December) is particularly interesting seeing as it has 3G/HSDPA connectivity.

The Opera 9 browser (with Flash support) is available free of charge to Archos Internet Media Tablet owners and will be automatically activated upon device registration.

Henri Crohas, Archos CEO, said: "With the web in focus for our new Internet Media Tablets, we were really able to unleash Opera's full potential and give our customers a faster and fuller web plus Widgets."
