Appsfire pulls its iPhone app in approval protest

Parting shot: 'Your app-roval process is full of holes...'

App recommendations service Appsfire has deleted its iPhone app from Apple's App Store, in protest at a lengthy wait for approval of its v2.0 update.

It's also published a blog post criticising Apple for its sluggish approval process, telling the company that "your app-roval process is full of holes", and that "We're pulling Appsfire v1.0 so that you don't have to".

The company says it's considering "out-of-store alternatives" - possibly unofficial app stores for jailbroken iPhones, like Cydia.

The news isn't entirely a surprise, since Appsfire had already blogged about the impasse in late May, complete with speculation that "Perhaps they're taking advantage of their position unfairly; they have something in the pipe and feel threatened by us."

Back then, the company said that its service had generated more than one million clicks through to the App Store, and warned that "we need to step up our efforts on Android, and perhaps even drop Apple long term".
