Patent reveals all.

Apple's latest patent filing appears to show plans to deliver temporary apps to iPhone users based on their current location.

As outlined by the Patently Apple blog, the apps would be offered by local businesses like restaurants and shops.

The patent itself concerns the system required to deliver location-specific apps to a mobile device, then delete them once the user moves away from that location.

One example given in the filing is of an app that tells iPhone users how long they're likely to wait for a table at a nearby restaurant, while another is an app that lets them actually order food.

Yet another example focuses on libraries, which might offer temporary apps to search their catalogues on-location.

As ever with these patent filings, there is no guarantee that this technology will be launched as it's described.

However, it's becoming clear that at some point, Apple will make a bigger push on location services for its iPhone.

Earlier this year, another patent revealed a mooted service called iGroups, which would let iPhone users create social groups around specific events.
