67% are making apps for multiple mobile platforms rather than just one.
With iPhone fever raging in the mobile entertainment world, it's tempting to assume that the majority of developers are focusing purely on Apple's App Store.
Indeed, there's no shortage of developers expressing a wait-and-see attitude towards Android, Palm Pre and BlackBerry, while charging full steam ahead with iPhone projects.
However, a survey commissioned by industry site ChubbyBrain tells a different story. It claims that 67% of 2009's venture capital-backed mobile startups are developing for multiple mobile platforms.
What's more, 76% of those companies are targeting six separate platforms: Android, iPhone, Palm, RIM, Symbian and Windows Mobile.
However, of the companies who are only targeting one mobile platform, 49% are focusing on iPhone, compared to 20% on BlackBerry, 15% on Windows Mobile, 8% on Symbian and 5% on Android.
