Apple and Google vie for Kodak patents

Bankrupt photo firm has a 1,100 strong selection up for grabs.

Kodak is currently in patent disputes with RIM, HTC, and Apple. However, the latter is also up against rival Google as a frontrunner to snap up some of its 1,100 available patents, according to the WSJ.

The once booming photo giant says it has generated more than $3 billion from licensing its digital imaging tech to the likes of Samsung, LG, Motorola and Nokia over ten years.

The patents up for sale could land Kodak $2.6bn, and while one portion of patents is for image processing tech, the other is more directly related to mobile, which would be useful to both future iOS and Android devices.
