App Store revs to grow 77.7 per cent this year

Top four stores to pull in $3.8 billion – up from $2.1 billion in 2010.

Screen Digest says combined revenues from the stores run by Apple, Google, Nokia and RIM will show more rampant growth this year.

And it believes the iTunes App Store will take 76 per cent of the spoils, reaching 10.3 billion downloads this year.

Combined revenue for the four stores was just $830.6 million in 2009, which reflects the extraordinary and ongoing allure of the app to consumers.

Indeed, Screen Digest projects app revs of $5.6 billion in 2012, $6.9 billion in 2013 and $8.3 billion in 2014.

And it believes Apple will retain its dominance, facing off the challenge of Android et al and retaining a 60 per cent market share by 2014.

Android Market revenue will rise 295.4 per cent this year to $425.36 million from 5.8 billion downloads, with BlackBerry App World accruing $279.11 million fro 772.2 million downloads and Nokia Ovi Store, grossing $201.48 million from 1.1 billion downloads
