Co-founder of marketing agency M&C Saatchi, Lord Saatchi, is driving The Poetry App in homage of great literary workings from the world's greatest poets, but also as a form of digital homage to his late wife and bard Josephine Hart.
115 poems from the likes of Emily Dickinson and Rudyard Kipling can be found on the app, voiced by more than 30 British actors including The Wire's Dominic West (who attended the official launch), Emilia Fox, Ralph Fiennes, and Mark Strong.
The Josephine Hart Poetry Foundation sought to bring the art form to a new generation, and the company believes mobile is a great way to achieve Hart's goal.
Users can collate their favourite rhymes in an anthology, as well as write and share their own poetry. The latter actually sports a word providing feature too, which is designed to help when writer's block sinks in.
The app achieved more than 40,000 downloads during its non-promoted soft launch, and is hoping to achieve plenty more with its rich support.
Lord Saatchi, said: "For years The Josephine Hart Poetry Hours were appreciated by audiences at the British Library. Her ambition was to take this joy in great poetry performed by great actors to digital platforms where it could be accessed by a wider audience.
"The aim of the app is to impact a new generation via the marvellous storytelling of actors who breathe a new spirit into words which on the page may appear daunting.
"The Poetry App is intended to be the most advanced poetry application on the internet - a universe of inspiring, thought-provoking and entertaining poetry to explore."
The app is free for and can be found on Google Play and iTunes.
