Developer Grapple has developed the Sky News Arabia app, running across iPhone, Android, BlackBerry and Nokia.
It features news stories, videos and photos, all of which can be shared via social media platforms, while live streaming will roll out in coming months.
Thair Soukar, deputy head of digital for Sky News Arabia, said: We know that there is a huge appetite for an Arab news product which incorporates both the technological advancements and the rapidly changing media consumption habits that are transforming the way in which news is gathered and disseminated.
"Sky News Arabia aims to deliver fresh, fast and independent news via multiple platforms including mobile devices to provide fast news on the go."
