App Of The Day: My Kitchen Table

Step-by-step cooking instructions using gestures, not messy fingers.

Personal media specialist TigerSpike has designed My Kitchen Table in partnership with Ebury Publishing of Random House for iPhone and iPod Touch.

The app introduces touch-free technology, allowing users to flick recipes and instructions without putting their flour-coated hands on their device.

TigerSpike developed the tech to use iPhone 4’s front camera, which acts as a sensor by allowing users to wave their hand over the screen to move to the next page.

40 free recipes are included from chefs including Ainsley Harriott, Ken Hom, Rick Stein and more.

Once the app has been downloaded, budding chefs can operate without the need for internet access.

Features include:

* Step-by-step cooking guides
* Search function
* Difficulty
* Occasion and type of dish plus more

A social network export feature is available too, as users can alert friends and followers what they're cooking via Facebook and Twitter.

Jon Salt, multimedia editor, Random House, said: "Everything about this app makes it easier than ever for our readers to access the recipes they want, when they want, in an intuitive format that also looks great.

"TigerSpike have delivered a premium cookery app that features hundreds of recipes, a powerful dynamic search, a practical shopping list, wonderful recipe pages and a little bit of magic that will change the way you cook with apps."

My Kitchen Table is free and can be downloaded here.

Seven additional recipe collections are available containing 40 to 50 recipes available to download for £1.99 each.
