App Of The Day: Fanatix

Aiming to make it easier to taunt friends about football results and more.

Fanatix is hoping to exploit the desire among consumers to tweet, text and call each other during big events like TV shows and sports fixtures.

It’s a sport and music messaging platform for iOS that connects users through private messaging networks, enabling group chat via iPhone's iMessage chat service.

The app matches the user's Facebook friends and activities with a database of more than 200,000 sporting and music events at over 16,000 venues across 186 countries.

It then lets the user know the friends that are going to the same concert or game and a worldwide private group chat can then be initiated.

Sports fans can share opinions, photos and videos to either share glory or gloat at fellow fans, while music lovers can arrange tickets, travel and so on.

Will Muirhead, founder and CEO of Fanatix, said: "Every football match watched on television results in a flurry of phone calls and text messages sent from friends and family.

"It’s a hopelessly inefficient way to share the experience. Fanatix is looking to change that and make identifying relevant friends and sharing a conversation with the group as easy as possible."

Results show that although the biggest tweeting sessions are dominated by sports comments on Twitter, fans prefer to use private means of communication such as text and phone calls instead of forums.

Muirhead continued and said: "By providing an automatic way to connect relevant groups of friends, fans can now easily share in groups without sharing with the rest of the world."

Fanatix is free and available for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.
