App Of The Day: Dead Tone

Enables bailiffs, ex-partners, and other unwanted callers to hear an out of service tone when they call you.

Personalised phone call service RingTagz allows users to customise the tone that callers hear when dialing their number.

And now, the firm has launched the Dead Tone app for Android to deter unwanted callers.

Users will be able to programme an 'out of service' sound to specific mobile numbers, so pesky callers will think the phone has been cut off.

The app has a twofold design; a joke so the caller can be sent a 'Dead Tone' text to let them no they've been pranked, but also as a means of stopping bullying from people that shouldn't have the users number.

Danielle Morgan, head of central marketing, RingTagz, said: "We think the Dead Tone app is going to be huge. We’ve all been there – a psycho ex partner, that debt collector you’ve been avoiding for months, the fling that really wasn’t a good idea, all calling you at inappropriate times and causing way more stress than necessary.

"With the introduction of the Dead Tone app, mobile users will no longer have to go through the hassle of cancelling their number, they can just make callers think it’s out of service!"
