Platform supports father of two's suggestion for children's learning app.
In October, FundedApps became our App Of The Day.
It offers users of its app the chance to put forward their app ideas, which if selected will earn them funding for development, marketing and full support and that's just what happened to Sean Connolly.
He submitted his Share My ABCs app idea to the service via his smartphone in February. His inspiration was found when his daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumour, which meant that she wasn't able to attend a nursery.
Share My ABCs is aimed at children aged two-to-six and invites them to practise their alphabet, shapes and messages by tracing them across an iPad screen. Parents can then sharing the results via email or social network to family and friends.
Initially Sean sought to hire developers before discovering FundedApps, which provided £30,000 to create Share My ABCs.

In addition to seeing his app brought to life, Sean will also earn 25 per cent of all profit from app downloads.
Jamie Lyons, co-founder of FundedApps, said: "Our aim is to build profitable products for people who have brilliant ideas but don’t have access to the resources to make them happen. Since launching in February this year, we’ve received thousands of app ideas from across the world, however, Sean’s idea really stood out as an idea we could bring to market.
"As this was the first publicly-sourced app idea we’ve brought to life, the project has been completely bespoke – we’ve taken our time to ensure that every detail of Share My ABCs is perfect. Through Sean’s original idea, we’ve created a completely new educational environment for children to immerse themselves in. We believe the ability to share hand-written messages with loved ones will elevate a child’s learning to the next level."
Thus far, the service has received thousands of idea submissions from people around the world, while an average of one in five ideas is explored in detail.
The firm aims to develop one app every month and believes the target will be reached by the close of 2012.
