First mobile IP to go mainstream since The Crazy Frog?
As if millions of iPhone downloads wasn't enough, it seems Angry Birds is preparing to attack real life retail with a line of plush toys.
Developers Rovio gave a prototype Angry Bird plush to ME friend @montymunford on a recent trip to Helsinki. The resulting video he made with his son has now gone viral. Check it out here if you haven't aleady:
With an Angry Birds film also thought to be in the pipeline, it brings to mind the case of The Crazy Frog (aka The Annoying Thing), which went from irritating ringtone to chart-topping pop star back in the mid-Noughties.
Could Angry Birds be the first piece of original mobile IP to cross over into the mainstream since then?
ME understands that Rovio is currently seeking a movie deal for Angry Birds via a US agent and is also seeking general merchandise deals.

Angry Birds publisher Chillingo certainly isn't resting on its laurels though - it's latest iPhone game Cut The Rope has notched 1 million downloads in 10 days.
