AndroLib website gets a major revamp

Filling the holes in Android's web presence.

Android-focused website AndroLib has launched its V2 update, introducing a host of new features to help people discover Android apps.

They include better filters to find apps - for example searching for apps of a certain kind with more than 250,000 downloads and a 4-star or better rating.

The site also recommends apps to users based on the ones they search for, has a news section for stories on new apps, as well as video reviews and a 'scoreboard' to show the best-rated apps.

AndroLib has also given its Android Market Statistics section a makeover. That includes one big figure: the estimate that more than one billion apps have been downloaded from Android Market since its launch.

Developers are being invited to customise the pages of their applications on the AndroLib site, while also getting access to more analytics.

AndroLib's popularity has been fuelled by the fact that Android Market's own web presence has been a bit lacklustre since the store launched. Android users have turned to thirdparty sites to browse apps on their computers.

However, Google is planning to ramp up Android Market's web elements in the coming months, including allowing people to buy apps online and get them sent over the air to their smartphones.
