It's top with 41.8 per cent in three months to July 31st.
comScore's MobiLens service found 82.2 million people in the US own smartphones, up ten per cent from the preceding three month period.
Behind Google came Apple with 27.0 per cent, up one point, and then RIM with 21.7 per cent share, Microsoft (5.7 per cent) and Symbian (1.9 per cent).
In terms of OEMs, Samsung is top with a 25.5 per cent market share, followed by LG with 20.9 per cent share and Motorola with 14.1 per cent.
Apple came in fourth with 9.5 per cent share.
And what were all these US consumers doing on their phones? 70 per cent used text messaging, 41 per cent did some browsing, while downloaded applications were used by 40.6 per cent and social networking sites were used by 30.1 per cent.
