Android phone to go public next week

T-Mobile will unveil the first Google Android phone at a September 23rd news conference, say reports.

It will demonstrate the phone for press and analysts at next week's event in New York, and ship it to retail next month. Everyone expects the device to be made by HTC.

Android is Google’s open mobile ‘ecosystem’, which should provide quick access to web services and apps, while easing the sale of advertising on the small screen. It was announced last November.
