Android gets two wireless syncing music apps

You wait ages...

Winamp and doubleTwist have both launched music apps for Android that allow people to wirelessly transfer songs from their computers to their device.

A small feature? Maybe, but one still lacking from the rival iOS platform.

Winamp for Android has emerged from beta this week with the new syncing feature, and according to parent company AOL, the app has been downloaded more than 500,000 times from Android Market since its beta launch a month ago.

Meanwhile, doubleTwist has added a feature to its own Android app called 'AirSync', which lets users wirelessly transfer music, but also movies and photos to their device.

It works using the doubleTwist desktop software, although users have to pay to upgrade to a premium version to access the new feature.

Both companies are currently making the most of the fact that Google doesn't offer a tightly integrated music store and player, like Apple.

However, the company is working on its own music service - yes, including wireless syncing features, as well as a cloud locker element. It's expected to launch in the coming months.
