Android G1 now on sale

HTC's Google-powered smartphone launched in the US by T-Mobile.

All the speculation and talk is over - the much anticipated, debated and berrated Google phone is now on sale.

Lucky San Franciscans were able to get their mitts on the device on Tuesday evening, 12 hours ahead of the nationwide launch on Wednesday. And yes, there were long Apple-esque queues.

To recap, the HTC G1 costs $180 with a two-year contract and $400 without.

Yesterday Google and its partners in the Open Handset Alliance made the Android source code available to anyone who wants it in order to drive vendor and operator adoption of the OS.
