Google mobile platform dev says upcoming software could pave way for new phone manufacturers
One of the developers working on Google’s upcoming mobile platform, dubbed Android, has predicted that its arrival could be so significant that it could lead to an ‘explosion’ of new handset developers entering the market.Hampus Jakobsson, co-founder of Android co-developers The Astonishing Tribe, told TechRadar: "This is going to be really positive, especially from a user's point of view. There will be an explosion of new phone manufacturers.
"The actual building of the phone is simple, as it has become more commoditised over the years. The trick is getting the phone to appeal to the target audience. Android will enable more companies to do that.”
