Google reveals stats alongside its quarterly financials.
There are now more than 38,000 applications available in Android Market, according to Google. That's compared to the 30,000 it said were available in mid-March.
Google revealed the stat as part of its latest quarterly financials, and there was more to say on Android too.
"Android is now powering 34 devices which is up 70% quarter-over-quarter from 12 different OEMs and over 60,000 Android devices are sold and activated every day," said senior VP of engineering Jeff Huber during Google's analyst call last night.
During the call, Huber was asked specifically about the Nexus One handset, which has been the subject of speculation concerning its sales. He declined to give actual numbers though.
"We are not disclosing the specific number of Nexus One devices sold. We are very happy with the device uptake and the kind of impact that has had across the industry of raising the bar and people’s expectations of what a great smartphone can do."

Finally, CFO Patrick Pichette was asked about progress on Google's deal to acquire mobile advertising network AdMob, and whether the company has a 'Plan B' if that deal is rejected by the US competition authorities.
"There is overwhelming evidence [that] the mobile advertising industry both in terms of platforms and providers is nascent," he said.
"It is incredibly competitive. It didn’t exist 24 months ago. There are dozens of ad networks out there. Even last week you may have heard there was an announcement from Apple that they were starting their own. It is incredibly competitive and that is why we believe we are very positive about making this transaction happen. The case is on our side."
And the numbers? Google generated $6.77 billion of revenues in Q1, and turned a profit of $1.96 billion for the quarter.
The vast majority of that wasn't from Android, of course, but don't doubt that Google has the financial muscle to continue duking it out with iPhone, BlackBerry and the rest in the smartphone market.
