Games firm Larva Labs reveals stats, but also criticisms.
Mobile games firm Larva Labs says sales of its Battle for Mars Android game are up 50% since the rollout of Android 1.6, which included a revamped Android Market store.
Among its improvements were the separation of paid and free apps - ensuring paid apps weren't buried several screens down the store homepage - as well as the ability for developers to include screenshots.
"In percentage terms it has made a big difference, we've seen roughly 50% increase in sales!" blogs co-founder Matt Hall. "The bad news is that's a 50% increase on not-so-good. So we're up to around ~$90 a day now it looks like."
$90 a day in revenues for a game which, according to Hall, has been on the first screen of paid games on Android Market for most of the month? Ouch.
Hall highlights some continuing problems with the store, including the 325-character limit on app descriptions; bugs including missing apps and download failures; and the trend for users to complete a game and then demand a refund.
