Commentators upbeat as Finnish giant passes 40 per cent global market share.
Ovum for one has described Nokia's 4Q07 results as 'stellar'.Of particular relevance for the content biz, Nokia Multimedia saw quarterly revenue grow by 42 per cent year-on-year, with operating profit up by 106 per cent.
Its highlights were the N73 and the N95, with the latter shipping six million units in Q4 alone.
For the quarter, total Nokia handset shipments were 133.5 million, up 20 per cent sequentially and 27 per cent year on year.
Martin Garner, mobile director at Ovum, said: "Impressive understates this performance. Nokia is now as big as Samsung, Motorola, Sony Ericsson and LG added together. These numbers were delivered in spite of some component shortages, a drop in Nokia's shipments in the US and a slight loss of market share in China."
