Almost three-quarters of US Android users access Facebook via mobile

Unsurprisingly, it's the most used social network on the Google OS.

It's Friday today, so get be sure to follow ME on Twitter –@MobileEntBiz – here, and Facebook here.

The NPD Group says the number of Android owners using Facebook has grown steadily over the past six months.

Meanwhile, Twitter mobile web and app use is at 23 per cent and 18 per cent respectively, while Google+ secured 16 per cent for the web, while app use fluctuated between ten and 15 per cent.

Facebook Android users spend almost 470 minutes a month – over 15 minutes per day – using the app, but despite the high usage period, it's half the time users spend on mobile gaming.

Linda Barrabee, research director, NPD Connected Intelligence, said: "Ultimately, Facebook's mobile success rests on delivering compelling mobile app and web experiences, and monetising on these experiences.

"In order to do this, Facebook needs to ensure that monetisation efforts via advertising enhance and do not disrupt the mobile social consumer experience; and with Facebook's IPO looming and trading expected to begin on May 18th, all eyes are on the company."
