Amdocs has signed a multi-year contract extension with US operator Alltel to provide premium content services.
The deal represents a consolidation of Amdocs’ position in the mobile space. The US billing giant was a specialist in online until it bought QPass last year. Now, it supports and manages Alltel’s content offerings such as ringtones, games and messaging using the Qpass Digital Commerce platform.The platform also furnishes Alltel with customer care tools and an automated system for managing relationships with multiple content partners in areas such as transaction processing and billing. With over 11 million wireless subscribers, Alltel Wireless is the US’s fifth largest network.
Craig Kirklande, director of messaging services at Alltel, said: “Our relationship with Qpass enhances the overall customer experience we deliver to our subscribers. The Qpass platform gives Alltel customers the continued flexibility and convenience to customise content and make digital commerce purchases directly from their handset.”

Days ago it announced that US MVNO Amp’d Mobile had selected its Qpass digital commerce platform to support and efficiently manage third party content and services. In November 2006, Amdocs announced that its Qpass platform had processed more than $1.5 billion worth of premium content, representing over 590 million transactions since 2003. Amdocs is global company with revenue of $2.48 billion in fiscal 2006.
