The 10 fastest growing operators in Africa added 35m subs over the last year.
The figures, from Informa, reflect rapid mobile growth that makes Africa one of the global market’s hotspots, along with regions such as Brazil, China, Russia, Mexico and India. Within Africa, Nigeria, Egypt and South Africa have shown the fastest growth. Nigeria's Globacom alone added just under six million new customers. Meanwhile in Egypt, Mobinil won the race against Vodafone with 4.67 million additional subscribers, putting the company in 2nd position on the continent's chart.In South Africa, traditionally the continent's market leader, Vodacom is now the continent’s fifth fastest growing network with 3.5 million new subscribers.
