AdMob data confirms woeful Google Nexus One sales

It took a tiny share of the company's Android ad requests in February.

AdMob has added more fuel to the speculation surrounding poor sales of Google's Nexus One handset, in its latest AdMob Metrics report.

We've reported on the main findings, which show Android taking a 24% share of smartphone ad requests on AdMob's global network in February - up from 2% a year ago.

But the company has also published a chart of the top five Android devices worldwide in terms of ad requests on its network. Motorola's Droid heads the list, followed by HTC's Dream, Hero and Magic, and then the Motorola Cliq.

What about Nexus One? It only generated 1% of AdMob's total ANDROID traffic in February 2010. Ouch.

The news follows analytics firm Flurry's recent claim that the Nexus One sold 135,000 units in its first 74 days on sale, compared to 1.05 million units for Motorola's Droid.
