Ad-funded search? Now you're talking

VoiceSignal has teamed up with Enpocket and 3rd Screen to serve mobile ads to consumers who make a ‘voice search’ query.

The service, called Vsearch, is activated via a button on the handset and asks the user to speak the location, name or category of a business. The VSearch server uses speech recognition to convert the query into text. Requested listings are then returned along with relevant, interactive ads. Both Enpocket and 3rd Screen have signed up to support the system with their ad-serving platforms.

Future versions will deliver information services including access to traffic, weather information, movie times, stock quotes, horoscopes and sports scores. As an ad0-funded service VSearch will be free, with only data charges to pay. VoiceSignal is hoping to have its app built into handsets soon.

“VSearch is a new paradigm. It is the future of local search, available now. Information is easier to get, yet free to the end user because it is ad- supported,” said Rich Geruson, CEO of VoiceSignal.
