Not a big opportunity for dedicated games, apparently.
Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick says the publisher isn't making any big bets on iPhone gaming just yet.
"We don't view the App Store as a really big opportunity for dedicated games," he told Reuters this week, although he said tablets like iPad may be more appealing to Activision in the future.
With millions of games being sold on the App Store, rival publishers and developers may be tempted to snort at Kotick's views.
However, it may be a question of priorities. Activision is currently piling its focus into big franchises like Call of Duty and World of Warcraft, where the revenues are currently considerably more lucrative than for a £5 or £10 iPhone game.
That said, Activision's biggest rival EA is investing significantly into the App Store, as are other big guns of the console, social and casual gaming worlds.
