Computing giant reckons it could sell a million units next year.
Acer has outlined its ambitions in the smartphone space and specifically its goal to become a top five player in 2012.
Speaking to Reuters, the company's SVP for smart handheld business Aymar de Lencquesaing stated Acer could sell over a million units next year, and account for 6-7 per cent of global sales in 2012.
Acer first detailed its mobile intentions at Mobile World Congress in February, when it lifted the lid on its Windows Mobile-powered Tempo range of smartphones.
A second set of devices was unveiled at CeBit a month later.
