Launching in the UK and Italy next month.
Hardware firm Acer has announced Alive, its new apps and content store for smartphones, tablets and netbooks.
The store will have five sections: Listen (music, audiobooks and podcasts); Watch (films, TV shows, video podcasts and music videos); Read (e-books, e-magazines and e-newspapers); Play (games); and Application (apps).
(We're guessing they struggled to find a suitable verb for what people do with apps.)
The store is certainly ambitious. Content will be grouped into "real-time feeds directly managed by content providers", which users will be able to subscribe to and be notified when new content is available.
Social features will be built in allowing users to share reviews and comments on various social networks, while there will also be recommendations to help them find new content.

For paid downloads and subscriptions, Alive will use the iTunes/Amazon model of getting users to register their credit card once, and Acer is promising "one-click" payments.
Alive will be made available for selected users in the UK and Italy this December, before launching elsewhere and on more devices in Q1 next year.
Acer has announced a number of partners for Alive. Buongiorno is powering its back-end, AKQA has designed the user experience, and Acxiom is supplying the recommendations engine.
Meanwhile, content partners include 7digital for music, Audiotube and Muzu for music videos, Zinio for e-mags, AudioGo for audiobooks, Acetrax for movies, and an unnamed 'European supplier of eReading technology solutions' for e-books.
Adobe and Intel are also on board for the Application section of the store, via their Adobe InMarket and Intel AppUp initiatives respectively.
