Accumulate launches 'on-game portal'

New concept, Flexion, embeds on-device portal features within the game download itself.

Accumulate believes the idea makes it easier for consumers to find new products and purchase them with flexible pricing options.

The company is a well-established specialist in mobile retailing, running the technical side of Player X's 100% games portals on O2 and Telefonica.

With Flexion, a user downloads a game for free but then launches online to purchase or rent the game via a multitude of pricing options such as ‘try-before-you-buy’, ‘rent for the day’ or ‘have-a-go for 25p’. They can also browse and download other games in the partner's portal.

The Flexion wrapping engine prepares any java app or game in minutes.

Accumulate says the other advantages of Flexion are that it enables consumers without credit on their phones the ability to download a game, eradicates refunds for failed downloads (because the download is free) and avoids the traditional problem with on-device portals - that consumers don't know what they are or where to find them on their devices.

“We have worked with our flexible licensing solution for over two years now with leading games retailers like Hutchison 3UK and have, during this period, analysed where the market is going.

"We now cater for all players in the value chain and can serve customers both on and off portal with new pricing models,” said Accumulate UK MD, Jens Lauritzson.
