37 per cent have booked a flight; 28 per cent made a restaurant reservation and 24 percent have rented a car.

US mobile advertising network Greystripe found that more than two thirds of iPad users are regular travellers who will use their devices to book flights and search for directions or restaurants.

The study examined the way Apple handhelds (iPads, iPhones and iPod Touches) and Androids are used for some aspect of the holiday booking procedure, with 91 per cent of iPad users completing a travel related activity via the device.

Greystripe believes this figure may be due to travel-related advertising campaigns growing to 49.2 per cent over the past year.

The results also showed that iPad users are 60 per cent more likely than iPhone users and 49 per cent more than Android users to complete a travel booking, supporting recent reports of some m-commerce users nursing security fears.

Dane Holewinski, director of marketing for Greystripe, said: "The power and portability of iPads, iPhones and Androids make them the ultimate devices for any jetsetter.
