84-year-old creates iPhone app

Man who would never be featured in any mobile ad campaign ever makes 'Dabble – The Fast Thinking Word Game'.

George Weiss's game challenges the player to spell five words as quickly as possible using 20 letters stacked in a pyramid shape. He's selling it for 99c.

The app is based on a board game, which went on sale earlier this year.

Weiss has been inventing for over 50 years, but Dabble is his first invention to come to market. Developers at Flashy Substance and Itch helped him create the app.

The story is a triumph for those of us who lament the mobile industry's obsession with youth, and the OEMs and brands whose advertising resembles the world of Logan's Run.

It's one to file alongside the story of the nine year old who was revealed as an app maker last year.
