Music is the victor.
Music store 7digital - well, its developer partner DevelopIQ - won $100,000 for taking first place in the BlackBerry Developer Challenge tonight, in San Francisco.
The contest, sponsored by the BlackBerry Partners Fund, pitted 16 of the most innovative BlackBerry apps of 2009 against each other for the prize.
7digital's music store walked away with the gong, with the runners-up prize going to BlackBerry game Fierce Towers, developed by Nickel Buddy.
A special "inventive" prize was awarded to music app Kik, which will launch early next year.
It's interesting that consumer apps took a clean sweep of the prizes tonight. Several impressive apps that were more business-focused were in the final 16, but weren't garlanded.
