61 per cent of retailers and restaurants use location-based ads

Mobile ad spend increasing at 11 per cent a month.

The latest SMART (Scorecard for Mobile Advertising Reach and Targeting) Report from Millennial Media has focused on the retail and restaurant advertising sector, which was the third largest space on the ad network in H1.

The firm reports that spend grew at an average rate of 11 per cent a month, with clothing retailers accounting for a third of all campaigns, followed by DIY and homeware, then fast food restaurants.

Geolocation is being seen as a more popular means of engagement, with 61 per cent of retail and restaurant brands using location-based campaigns to reach customers, with eateries accounting for two out of three of the promotions.
