The UK leads the growth, with smartphone adoption up 70 per cent to more than 11m. France is up 48 percent to 7m, Italy up 11 per cent to 15m.

Interestingly the rise in adoption is happening in parallel with a squeeze in average smartphone tariffs. comScore says the mid to low tier is growing faster than high tier subscriptions (greater than £35 in U.K. and €50 in Euro currency countries) in each of the 'EU5' markets.
