3UK claims customers have watched over 6 million of its free ad-funded video streams.
The UK operator launched free service in April in partnership with the ad-supported video specialist Rhythm New Media. The videos are bracketed by ads with advertisers such as Microsoft, Lynx, Ministry of Sound and Intel, and are hosted on the ‘free stuff’ section of 3’s Planet 3 content portal. The company says around 600,000 people have used the service.
Breaking news and weather are the most popular forms of content followed by horoscopes and movies. Peak viewing times were the morning commute and the evening from 8pm to 11 pm.
