Market researcher YouGov has examined the impact mobile phones have had on romance. It found 25-34 year-olds are the most textually randy as 33 per cent use their devices to flirt with love interests rather than face-to-face.
The report says 29 per cent of 18-44 year-olds would do the same, while 26 per cent of 26 per cent also prefer the mobile chat-up method.
Mobile phone insurance provider insurance2go.co.uk research found Midlanders to be the most flirtatious British region.
24 per cent of those in the West Midlands use the text love route, followed by the East Midlands with 22 per cent and London with one in five mobile owners.
Duncan Spencer, MD of insurance2go.co.uk, said: "Texting offers people a way to flirt with someone they may be attracted to without the danger of feeling embarrassed if their advances are not reciprocated.

"Mobile phones, particularly smartphones, have become so much more than just something to use to make a call. Now people's whole lives revolve around them, and that includes their most intimate feelings."
Other locations for popular text flirting includes the North West with 20 per cent followed by Yorkshire and the Humber with 19 per cent.
