3 Ireland latest to adopt Bebo tools

Operator now offering web, video and messaging content based on social networking know-how.

3 Ireland is the latest network to adopt the Bebo Open Mobile programme, which is designed to enable third parties to offer and integrate with the eponymous social networking site in double quick time.

Specifically, 3 Ireland is launching the Bebo Open Mobile Messaging and Media toolkit, which will allow its customers to connect directly to friends by text and watch free video content.

The platform has already been adopted by O2 UK and Canadian operators Bell Mobility, Fido, Rogers Wireless and Virgin.

Sean Kane, Global Head of Mobile at Bebo, said: “The user response to Bebo messaging on 3 has validated the appeal of Bebo messaging as a two-way channel to connect Bebo users with the friends and content they care about. We’re also breaking new ground with video. In order to reach its potential video on mobile needs to be a social experience – Bebo Open Mobile Video finally connects friends and content."

Elaine Carey, Sales Director of 3, said: “At launch, 3 will be the only mobile operator in Ireland that offers this full Bebo content social networking experience. Innovation and value is what we at 3 strive for and the speed at which people are subscribing to Bebo applications shows it’s also exactly what our customers demand.”
