O2 and 3 unify their Yospace-powered UGC video services as part of a landmark deal.
The newly-combined service is called EyeVibe and will replace the previously separate SeeMeTV and LookAtMe! services, offered by 3 UK and O2, respectively. It is hoped that making the service interoperable across operators will act as catalyst for growth in video services in the same way it did for SMS - EyeVibe will also be available to non-O2/3 customers via a designated MMS shortcode.
Since the launch of SeeMeTV and LookAtMe! users have paid for more than 32 million video downloads earning a combined total of over £800,000 for users who have submitted more than 60,000 clips.
The services currently generate a combined 28 million mobile page impressions per month.
SeMeTV/LookAtMe! platform provider Yospace was last week bought by Bauer Consumer Media from previous owner EMAP, which purchased the mobile user-gen video specialist just 12 months ago in a £14.4 million deal.
