Mobile navigation taking off for UK startup, six months after its free NavFree app was released.
UK startup Navmii now has more than two million users of its navigation apps, the company has announced.
Those apps include the free iOS navigation app NavFree, which launched six months ago, and the paid Navmii GPS Live applications.
"Navmii now has a community in the millions, with an average of 15,000 new users joining every day. Our active community has also contributed more than 300,000 updates to OpenStreetMap," says CEO Peter Atalla.
NavFree is contributing the lion's share of Navmii's user growth, with more than 1.7 million users. That means more than 300,000 sales of the Navmii GPS Live apps, which have been marketed at aggressively low prices on the App Store.
Atalla says Navmii is planning to launch a European-wide version of NavFree in the coming months - currently it's only available in a few specific country versions - while also releasing a US edition, and expanding to Android.
