It's free, but publisher Titan Comics says it's just the start of its App Store ambitions.
Titan Comics says its Wallace & Gromit digital comic app for iPhone has been downloaded more than one million times on the App Store. The free app was launched in November 2009, so has taken 19 months to reach seven figures.
"We are really proud that we are the first UK comics publisher to get a million downloads on iTunes, but we aren't stopping there," says editor Andrew James. "The new Titan Comics app for iPhone and iPad demonstrates our cutting-edge technology and our diverse range of top quality comics."
Titan will be releasing new Wallace & Gromit comic strips through that new app, as well as other titles from its range.
As ever for milestones of this nature, the real question is how lucrative comics are and will be on smartphones and tablets through paid sales, whether standalone or within more general comics apps.
Titan Comics sells individual issues for 59p or £1.19 within its free app, while US publishers Marvel and DC Comics offer similar in-app catalogues of their archives.
