Extreme Rollercoaster ride shows no signs of slowing down.

Players of Barclaycard's Rollercoaster Extreme iPhone game have totalled more than 150,000 hours of gameplay since its launch earlier this year.

That's based on more than 10 million downloads in 80 countries, according to Barclaycard.

The game is free to download, and one of the most successful 'advergames' on Apple's App Store, only a couple of million downloads behind Barclaycard's previous game, Waterslide Extreme.

Both games were developed by German firm Fishlabs, working with agency Dare.

Barclaycard is looking to keep the momentum of the rollercoaster game going with a contest, giving away an iPad every month to the player at the top of its high score table.

In January, the four top-placed players will be invited to Las Vegas to compete for a £50,000 prize.

"The number of downloads to date is outstanding and we’re both pleasantly surprised and pleased that the game is proving to be so popular across the globe," says Hannah Deans, senior digital and new media manager at Barclaycard.
