IBM says online shopping in the UK will grow by ten per cent this month compared to the same period last year, as retailers launch early special holiday season offers to entice buyers.
This is set to result in 15 per cent of consumers using the mobile channel to complete their Christmas shopping ahead of the big day, according to the report.
Results show October 2011 saw 12 per cent of shoppers use a mobile to view retail sites rising from 3.7 per cent in the same period last year, while 11 per cent of online sales grew from 3.1 per cent in the same respective times.
The report says that iPhone is the most used platform, with 5.5 per cent of all activity in October compared to 2.4 per cent for Android.
iPad demonstrated the highest conversion rate at 5.5 per cent against the mobile device rate of 3.5 per cent.

IBM recently released similar expectations for the US market predicting 15 per cent of e-commerce will be driven by mobile.
