South Korea now has 13.7 million DMB mobile TV subscribers.
A report in the Korea Times adds that, although DMB embraces all manner of portable devices, mobile accounted for 48.4 per cent of them. There are about six million mobile users with handsets connecting to free terrestrial DMB services, and 1.31 million subscribed to satellite DMB, a pay-based offering by SK Telecom.In car DMB-enabled terminals accounted for 37.8 per cent, portable media players 9.4 percent and USB devices 3.8 percent.
TNS Media, a local research firm, said the percentage of terrestrial DMB handset owners actually viewing services was just 1.172, peaking at 3.585 during commuting hours.
