Helping digital contribute 8.1 per cent of revenues to Beeb's commercial unit.
BBC Worldwide grew profits by 10.3 per cent to £160.2m (from £145.2m last year), its highest level ever. Profit before tax was £201.2m.
Digital played its part, with the Top Gear and Doctor Who pages on Facebook gathering over 11.8 million fans and an average 68 million visitors per month visit its websites.
And mobile grew significantly. BBC Worldwide has 25 titles live on the iTunes App Store, including apps based on Top Gear, Torchwood, Good Food, In the Night Garden and Doctor Who.
In the year ahead, the company says it will export the global BBC iPlayer, develop a bigger games portfolio and launch more mobile services and apps.
John Smith, Chief Executive of BBC Worldwide, said: “This was BBC Worldwide’s most successful year ever in championing great UK content around the globe.
