100m downloads for Backflip Studios

Games developer has 25 million monthly active players across iOS and Android, and 2.5 million daily actives.

US mobile games developer Backflip Studios says it has now passed the 100 million total downloads mark, joining the likes of Rovio Mobile and Outfit7 as a member of the nine-figure club.

According to VentureBeat, Backflip now has 25 million monthly active players of its games, and 2.5 million daily active users. The company's revenues - which it hasn't revealed - are split three-ways between paid downloads, advertising and in-app purchases.

Backflip is one of the indie success stories in the App Store era, having shot to prominence with its hugely popular free Paper Toss game, which has since spawned several free and paid spin-offs.

The company's more recent Strike Knight game has racked up more than 10 million downloads on iPhone alone, with a healthy slate of new games due to be released this summer.
