One eBay item a second is purchased from a smartphone.
It doesn't seem to matter now bullish the online auction site is about mobile, it always has to revise upwards its projections about the mobile channel.
The firm did $2bn in mobile sales in 2010 and $5bn in 2011 thanks to the 56 million plus downloads of its mobile app.
Now, it's told The Daily Telegraph that mobile is contributing ten per cent of all traffic, and that the firm is looking to explore other avenues to give consumers a more convenient shopping experience.
It spoke to Devin Wenig, eBay’s president of global marketplaces, who said eBay UK is also experimenting with image recognition for its mobile app.
Meanwhile in the US, the new eBay app will contain a function that recognises which show is being watched, and display relevant eBay items for purchase.
